The Lady Bearcats defeated Chatham University by a 9-0 score before dropping a 5-3 decision to Mount Union that was suspended due to darkness.
In the opener with Chatham, Meghan Wells, Allison Botti, Ashley Nord, Krista Long, Briggany Vignero, and Rebecca Cronauer were all victorious in singles action. The doubles teams of Wells/Botti, Lori Orthen/Kim Meier, and Cronauer/Vignero each picked up wins. In the nightcap, Mount Union picked up a 5-3 win, with the final match suspended called to darkness.
Orthen and Meier picked up singles wins, while the tandem of Meier/Nord winning in doubles. The finale between Sarah Rendulic and her opponent wsa suspended due to darkness, during a tie breaker after splitting two sets.
"Every match of the day was close," said head coach Jim Bendel. "Mount Union is a highly rated college, and this was the first ever meeting between the two schools."
The Lady Bearcats are now 7-5 on the season, and will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Bethany.
