For the fourth consecutive year, Saint Vincent College has been ranked in the first tier of national liberal arts colleges in the 2014 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges Guidebook, according to information released today.

The rankings are based on 11 key measures of quality including graduation and retention rates, assessment by peers and counselors, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.

Saint Vincent moved slightly in the new rankings from a two-way tie at 145 last year to an eight-way tie at 146 among the 181 colleges and universities selected for inclusion in the top tier of the best national liberal arts colleges.

“We appreciate the external validation we receive from U.S. News & World Report, as well as Forbes Magazine’s Best College Buys and Washington Monthly magazine’s Liberal Arts Colleges, supporting our academic quality, excellent retention and graduation rates, and the fact that we provide an outstanding college experience at a reasonable cost,” said Saint Vincent College president Br. Norman W. Hipps, O.S.B. “We believe the Saint Vincent experience reflects the time we invest in every student, helping each one to find the best major and the best career path for them as an individual. That is the most important question each student must answer: Is this the right school for me?”

The rankings of more than 1,400 schools nationwide are available at www.usnews.com and will also be published in the 2014 edition of U.S. News Best Colleges Guidebook available on newsstands.---Follow us on Twitter: @MySaintVincent
