Graduate Programs in Education

Saint Vincent College offers five masters programs in education, as well as two graduate-level certificate programs, which can be completed in-person or online. We also offer post-baccalaureate teacher certification is for those who have already earned a bachelor's degree. Below you will find descriptions of each program and links to learn more. 

Master of Science Degree in Counselor Education

The Saint Vincent College Master of Science Degree in Counselor Education, certifying in PA School Counseling PK-12, prepares candidates for a career as a professional counselor in the school setting.  Candidates will receive instruction in school policies and clinical counseling for children and young adults. Learn more about Counselor Education

Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction

The Saint Vincent College Master of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction focuses on three critical elements of learning:  curriculum, instruction and assessment. Candidates will investigate various frameworks and programs of curriculum design; explore methods of making instruction meaningful to all students; and evaluate diagnostic and assessment strategies and products for use in their school or workplace. Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology

The Saint Vincent College Master of Science Degree in Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) meets the technology training and education needs of the 21st century.  Candidates from all professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply to the program. Master of Science Degree in Special Education

The Saint Vincent College Master of Science Degree in Special Education provides specialized training in educating students with disabilities. With increased demands for special education teachers in our schools, this program is designed for candidates who are already special education certified or working in special education or a related area who are hoping to deepen their understanding of special education. Master of Science Degree in School Administration and Supervision 

The Saint Vincent College Master of Science Degree in School Administration and Supervision offers veteran educators a degree program to obtain Pennsylvania certification as a K-12 principal. Learn more about School Administration and Supervision.

PK-12 Online Instruction Endorsement

The PA Department of Education recently released a set of guidelines based on the iNACOL (International Association  for K-12 Online Learning) standards for quality online teaching in which higher learning institutions can apply to provide to their candidates. Saint Vincent College is one of the first institutions of higher learning in the State to be approved to offer this endorsement program. The program provides the training to effectively teach online using Google, multiple learning management platforms, Zoom and other synchronous tools, asynchronous techniques, interactives, module-based designs, and much more.  This certification will be versatile for current trends in online learning used in today's and tomorrow's classrooms. Early Childhood Director Credential

The ECL specialization will focus the Curriculum and Instruction degree to provide the professional training needed for Keystone Stars and other accreditation.  The courses included in the specialization meet the Director Credential coursework as well renewal requirements. The courses deepen early childhood leadership and curriculum design for both new and experienced early childhood professionals. The courses topics include professional development, early learning leadership, early childhood education setting design and management, curriculum systems design, instructional technology, current issues, methodology, human learning and special education. Learn more about the Early Childhood Director Credential.

Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification

Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification is for those who have already earned a bachelor's degree. Regardless of your certification area, the Education Department at Saint Vincent College combines content-area course work, education course work and field experience, with a liberal arts tradition. As a result of this instruction, candidates who complete certification at Saint Vincent College are well prepared and are thus very successful in passing all parts of the Praxis examinations and in obtaining teaching positions.
