Student Break Day to Feature Special Food, Games, Programming

LATROBE, PA – A scheduled break day for Saint Vincent College students, Thursday, April 22, will be filled with special events, games, food and more for students as they enter the home stretch of the Spring 2021 semester.

“EggStravaganza” egg hunt | 9 a.m. – noon | Melvin Platz
Sponsored by the Office of Commuter Outreach, the egg hunt will be open to all SVC students. A total of 250 colored eggs and 24 golden eggs will be hidden throughout Melvin Platz, and students can turn in their found eggs at the Commuter Plaza for the chance to win prizes. First prize in the golden egg raffle is a folding beach chair. The student who finds the final golden egg will win a portable hammock, while the student who finds the final egg will win a HydroFlask. Winners will be announced at noon and the winners do not have to be present. 

Wellness Center table/water bottles | All Day | Robert S. Carey Student Center Lounge
The Saint Vincent College Wellness Center will have a table outside of the bookstore with information reinforcing healthy habits. As parts of the Wellness Center’s Healthy Habits and Hydration initiative, water bottles will be distributed to students who visit the table. 

Grow Your Career | Noon – 2 p.m. | Outside of The Shack
The Career and Professional Development Center invites students to visit their tent outside of The Shack, where they can plant their own flower garden and learn about ways to grow their career with summer experiential learning opportunities. A variety of different flower seeds will be available for students to plant in a cup, while information on a number of local internships and part-time and entry-level jobs will be available.

Carnival food | 2 – 4 p.m. | Melvin Platz
Dining Services will be preparing a wide variety of carnival food for students, including hot dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, pretzels, lemonade and snow cones.

Outdoor games and sports | All day
Throughout the day, a variety of outdoor games will be open to SVC students. Spikeball and cornhole will be set up all day and open to all students. In the morning, students are invited to play Frisbee golf on the new course on the lower part of campus, while Ultimate Frisbee will be played during the afternoon and kickball during the evening.
