The Steelers and their fans like logo merchandise so the Saint Vincent College Bookstore is preparing for the onslaught of visitors to the 48th annual summer training camp beginning on Saturday, July 27 by stocking the shelves with more black and gold merchandise than you can think of and some that you would never think of – would you believe black and gold lawn flamingoes!

“Our popular store on the first floor of the Robert S. Carey Student Center turns black and gold in July and August as we stock up on merchandise that we think the fans will like,” Fr. Anthony Grossi, O.S.B., Bookstore Director, commented. “And, we always try to get the latest items that are being offered.”

The Saint Vincent College Bookstore is offering a host of new Steelers logo merchandise this summer including Steelers scrubs (tops and pants), sandwich and storage bags, light-up mouse pads, floor mats, NFL board game with player figures, iPhone 5 cover, truck tailgate cover, children’s color and carry activity pad, dry erase boards, kites and pillows.

In addition to the new items, the store will also be offering popular favorites such as mugs, pennants, autographable footballs, training camp t-shirts, pens, pencils, glasses, framed pictures of players that have inspirational quotes on them, a “swooper” flag for yard displays, a newspaper from Reprographics that has articles about important moments in Steelers history, a back-to-school kit and even an iPhone case.

Other popular Steelers logo items that will return to the bookstore shelves include Mr. Potato Head games, action figures, cars, mailbox flags, L’il teammates NFL figures and a screwdriver.

Back by popular demand at the Bookstore is the Saint Vincent Gristmill coffee. A special black and gold blend will be available for purchase.

“We will also have plenty of sunscreen, Sharpie markers and snack items that we know are always needed by visitors,” Fr. Anthony said. The store’s staff of three will swell to ten as Saint Vincent students are hired to join them at their very busy, air-conditioned store inside the Carey Center. Hours of operation on days of public practice are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on every other business day. The store will be operating in a second location this summer offering a limited supply of merchandise in the Foster and Muriel McCarl Gallery in the Fred M. Rogers Center from 12 noon to 6 p.m. during days of public practice.

“We enjoy serving Steelers fans of all ages and becoming part of the excitement they experience when visiting camp and campus,” Fr. Anthony commented on the more than 5,000 customers they expect. “Many of them ask questions about my traditional, long Benedictine habit so it is also a nice opportunity to talk about the mission and history of Saint Vincent.”
