Dr. Marcela Mera Trujillo is an assistant professor of computer science in the Department of Computer and Information Systems at Saint Vincent College. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from West Virginia University in 2023, where she also completed a Certificate in university teaching and a master’s degree in mathematics. With a strong interdisciplinary background in computer vision, robotics, and education, Dr. Mera Trujillo’s work explores the integration of emerging technologies in teaching and research. She has contributed to both academic and industry projects and is passionate about using robotics to enhance computer science education.

Research Interests
Dr. Mera Trujillo’s research interests include computer vision, robotics, and STEM education. Her recent work has focused on interest point detection for hybrid camera systems, image-based 3D reconstruction, and efficient compression techniques for localization. In addition to her technical contributions, she investigates pedagogical strategies that incorporate robotics, and hands-on programming to improve engagement and learning outcomes in computer science education. She is particularly committed to broadening participation in computing and exploring interdisciplinary approaches to learning.
