FAQs about Admission to Saint Vincent College

  • Frequently Asked Questions About Admission

What are the admission requirements for Saint Vincent College?

Saint Vincent College uses a holistic admissions process, considering academic performance along with extracurricular involvement and personal qualities. Key factors include GPA, course rigor, class rank (if available), test scores (optional), activities, and optional essays or recommendations. Applicants must complete 16 academic units in high school and may apply test-optional. The average admitted student has a 3.58 GPA, 1110 SAT, or 22 ACT, and 80% rank in the top half of their class. Students applying without test scores and with a GPA below 3.25 must submit a personal statement or interview.

Do I need to submit SAT or ACT scores to apply?

No, SAT or ACT scores are not required to apply to Saint Vincent College.
SVC is test-optional. You may choose to submit SAT, ACT, or CLT scores, but if you apply without test scores and have a GPA below 3.25, you’ll need to submit a personal statement or complete an interview as part of the application review.

What is the application deadline, and when will I hear back?

Saint Vincent College has rolling admissions, so there’s no single firm deadline—applications are reviewed as they’re received. For best consideration, students typically apply by April 1–May 1 for fall enrollment. Admission decisions are usually sent within a few weeks after your application is complete.

How competitive is admission to this program?

Saint Vincent takes a holistic approach when considering applicants. Strong applicants typically have solid academic performance (average GPA 3.58) and rigorous coursework. Test scores are optional, and the college values engagement, motivation, and extracurricular involvement, not just grades or scores. Our undergraduate acceptance rate is approximately 62%.

Can I apply if I’m transferring from another college or changing majors?

Yes. Saint Vincent College accepts transfer students and previously earned college credits may be considered for transfer, as well as AP, dual enrollment, and CLEP credits. Students changing majors are reviewed holistically based on transcripts and academic preparation.

What can I do to strengthen my application?

You can strengthen your application by:
    • Performing well academically and taking challenging courses
    • Participating in extracurricular activities
    • Submitting an optional essay or letters of recommendation
    • Completing an interview or personal statement, especially if applying test optional with a GPA below 3.25
