Dr. Tracy McNelly is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Education Department at Saint Vincent College, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and serves as faculty advisor for Kappa Delta Pi, the Education Honor Society. She is also co-editor of the Pennsylvania Teacher Educator journal.
Prior to entering higher education, Dr. McNelly built an extensive career in public education as both a teacher and administrator. She began as a secondary English and journalism teacher and later served as a high school reading specialist. She then transitioned into school leadership, holding administrative roles in the Penn-Trafford School District and the Conemaugh Township School District (Somerset County), and ultimately serving as Assistant Superintendent in the Norwin School District. Across her career, she has held a range of leadership positions, including junior and senior high assistant principal, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Director of Secondary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.
In addition to her work in higher education, Dr. McNelly remains actively engaged in K–12 education through service roles. She serves as an advisory board member for Greensburg Central Catholic and as a member of the Adelphoi Education/Ketterer Charter School Board of Directors.
Dr. McNelly’s research interests focus on media literacy, PK–12 literacy development, and the impact of technology on literacy skills. She has published extensively on these topics and has presented her scholarship at national, state, and local conferences.
