LATROBE, PA – Saint Vincent College has appointed Dr. Dana Winters, C’06, as vice president for enrollment and student success. She began the role in April.
Winters will oversee a comprehensive strategy that integrates the student experience, applying her research in developmental relationships in educational settings alongside her expertise in education evaluation. Areas of responsibility will include recruitment, retention, academic support, student life and wellness services.
“Dr. Winters embodies the Benedictine values that are at the heart of our mission,” said Father Paul Taylor, O.S.B., C’87, S’91, Saint Vincent College president. “Her dedication to student success, scholarly expertise and deep connection to Saint Vincent make her an ideal leader for this vital role.”
Winters most recently served as the assistant vice president for academic affairs at Saint Vincent College. Before turning toward academic administration, she served as the Rita McGinley Executive Director and Faculty Chair of the Fred Rogers Institute, where she led research and program development to advance the legacy of Fred Rogers.
An experienced applied researcher, Winters has served as principal investigator and program evaluator for more than 20 federally, state- and foundation-funded research and intervention projects across the educational spectrum. Additionally, she served as a UNESCO faculty fellow in children and youth studies, collaborating with faculty around the world in the advancement of empathy and adult-child relationships across developmental settings.
Prior to her work in research and evaluation, Winters held positions in student life, educational access and support, and institutional assessment at Lock Haven University, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pittsburgh. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and political science from Saint Vincent, a master’s in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in education administrative and policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Saint Vincent through a role that promotes the holistic development of students, from prospect to graduate,” Winters said of her appointment. “This commitment to student support sets Saint Vincent apart from other institutions of higher education—and I am excited to be a part of it.”
