LATROBE, PA – Saint Vincent Summer Theatre (SVST) is set to conclude its 55th season with “Forever Plaid,” scheduled to hit the stage from Sept. 9 through 14.
“Forever Plaid” is a jukebox-style musical that follows four young singers who are killed in a car crash but are granted one final posthumous performance. The show is a nostalgic trip back to the 1950s, featuring classic barbershop quartet harmonies, pitch-perfect melodies and beloved songs.
The performance features many classic tunes, including “Three Coins in a Fountain,” “Cry,” “16 Tons,” “Catch a Falling Star” and “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.”
“‘Forever Plaid’ holds an extra-special place in my heart as I’ve performed it here at SVST twice (as ‘Smudge’) as well as directed it once,” said Greggory Brandt, producing artistic director for SVST. “It was my first production ever performed here in this lovely theater space, so I’m thrilled for its return now and to also, hopefully, introduce it to an entirely new audience base.”
This show marks the return of one of SVST's favorite productions as well as favorite performers in Kevin O'Leary (“Sparky”), along with past performers Justin Massetto, C’22, (“Smudge”) and Anthony Marino Jr. (“Jinx”). In addition, this production is the debut show for Alex Podolinski, who rounds out the quartet as “Frankie.”
All shows this season are directed by Brandt, who is also a professor of music and performing arts at Saint Vincent College, and will take place in the Performing Arts Center, located within the Robert S. Carey Student Center on campus.
“Forever Plaid” will have eight performances with matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday will also have two performances. All evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
