LATROBE, PA – The Saint Vincent College community will celebrate Life in Christ Week Jan. 17-23 with prayer services, discussions, a musical performance, volunteer work and other special activities. All on-campus events are free and open to the public and the College community.
Jan. 17
Latrobe Community Meal:
9:30 a.m., Saint Vincent Grove
Volunteers will convene to help those in need in our local community.
Jan. 18
Prayer for Christian Unity:
2:30 p.m., Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica Crypt
Local church leaders of all denominations will gather for a prayer service to mark the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Joining together with one voice, attendees will pray for all to be compassionate and forgiving of each other and work toward the common good in love of Christ and neighbor. A reception will follow in the parish assembly room.

Winter Items Donation Drive
Robert S. Carey Student Center Lounge
Donate your new and lightly used winter items to help those in need. Donations will be accepted throughout the week.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day events:
11 a.m.-2 p.m., Fred M. Rogers Center
Attendees will reflect on living faith through love with excerpts from King’s “Where Do We Go from Here?” speech and will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion surrounding the speech.
7 p.m., Dr. Frank J. Luparello Lecture Hall, Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion
Pastor Kirt Conroy will lead students on a service built on King’s enduring values of peace, love, and hope. A reception will follow the prayer service.

Day of Service:
8-10 a.m., The Grove
Volunteers will assist the Westmoreland Food Bank mobile unit by assembling care packages for local residents in need.
4-6 p.m., Carey Center Lounge
Join the Saint Vincent community to make Jared Boxes for children at local hospitals. The Jared Box Project was started in 2001 by the children of Our Lady of Victory School in State College to honor their classmate and friend, Jared McMullen, who battled cancer with courage and faith. Nationwide, more than 1 million Jared Boxes have been delivered to over 500 hospitals. Each box, filled with the “gift of play,” contains small gifts, toys, games, crayons, coloring books and fun activities.

Musical Performance:
7 p.m., Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica
Award-winning Christian recording artist Mark Schultz returns to campus to perform some of his biggest hits and music from his new album.
Jan. 21
Blood Drive:
11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Carey Center
Representatives from Vitalant will be on hand to assist members of the Saint Vincent community and guests in donating blood.
Saint Vincent College Threshold Series with Dr. Jonathan Lee Walton:
7 p.m., Rogers Center
Dr. Jonathan Lee Walton, Princeton Theological Seminary president, will present his talk titled, “Conscientious Citizenship in a Commercial Culture.” Admission is free, but registration is required. Parking will be available in Lot A. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

March for Life
National Mall, Washington, D.C.
Members of the Saint Vincent community will depart from campus at 5:30 a.m. to attend the National March for Life. For those unable to attend the March for Life, Mass will be held at 12:05 p.m. in the Mary, Mother of Wisdom Student Chapel on the Saint Vincent College campus.
