Saint Vincent College seniors explore “Identity” theme in 2026 capstone exhibition

by Public Relations | April 13, 2026

LATROBE, PA – A dozen Saint Vincent College graduating seniors will present their work during “Identity,” the 2026 senior art and design exhibition, with an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the Verostko Center for the Arts, located inside the Dale P. Latimer Library on the College’s campus.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is a collaboration between the Visual Arts and Media Design Department—housed in the College’s School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences—and the Verostko Center.

The exhibition highlights the capstone projects of the Class of 2026. Through a wide range of media and approaches, the students examine questions of personal narrative, cultural influence, memory and self-definition, inviting viewers to reflect on how identity is formed, expressed and transformed.

The exhibition features work by:

  • Jacob Bacasa, a communication major from Glenshaw;
  • Camdon Bashor, a digital art and media and sports and media double major from Polk;
  • Chyonna Blango-Symms, an art education major from Cranberry Township;
  • Emmitt Cooper, a digital art and media major from Latrobe;
  • Justin Emeigh, a sports and media major from New Oxford;
  • Agnes-Rose Fischer, a philosophy and studio art double major from Strongsville, Ohio;
  • Chloe Fontanazza, an art education major from Jeannette;
  • Jaden Gales, a digital art and media major from Pittsburgh;
  • Rachel Hutchinson, a digital art and media major from Bryan, Texas;
  • Charlotte Jordan, an art education major from Germantown, Maryland;
  • Elizabeth Madden, an English and digital art and media double major from New Castle; and
  • Hailie Stamm, an art education and digital art and media double major from Mount Holly Springs.

For the visual arts capstone, students develop a cohesive body of work in the medium of their choice, selecting pieces for public display accompanied by an artist’s statement and biographical information. The exhibition provides students with professional experience of presenting their work in a gallery setting and sharing their creative research with the wider community.

Identity, as expressed by these artists, is a complex and evolving understanding of the self, shaped by experiences, values, beliefs, relationships and personal growth. For many, it speaks to the very core of who they are, an accumulation of the small, unique qualities that define them as individuals.

At the same time, identity reflects moments of loss, change and transformation as individuals navigate becoming someone new while striving to preserve a sense of self. It exists at the intersection of inner reflection and outward expression, shaped both by how we see ourselves and how others perceive us. Rather than something fixed, identity is fluid and continuously developing over time, built through challenges, choices and moments of self-discovery. Ultimately, identity exists in the present moment while continuously becoming something new.

The exhibition runs through May 9. During the spring semester, regular public hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 1-4 p.m. For research requests or to schedule a visit outside the hours above, email verostkocenter@stvincent.edu. Off-campus guests are encouraged to confirm the Center is open before visiting.

The Verostko Center is dedicated to advancing and integrating the arts within the Saint Vincent College community, presenting rotating exhibitions by contemporary artists alongside selections from the College’s permanent collections. Located on the upper floor of the Latimer Library, the Center serves as an educational and cultural hub designed to foster engagement with diverse ideas and artistic traditions.

Visitors are encouraged to stop at the Welcome Booth for a temporary parking pass, directions and a map and are usually asked to park in Parking Lot E and walk northwest alongside Wimmer and Placid Halls to the Verostko Center, located inside the Latimer Library.

Interested attendees with questions are encouraged to contact Amy Roadman, who serves as the Verostko Center’s public outreach and programming coordinator, at 724-805-2310 or amy.roadman@stvincent.edu.
