by Public Relations | May 18, 2026

LATROBE, PA – Seventy-eight Saint Vincent College students were inducted into the institution’s chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) Honor Society for First-Year Academic Success during the spring semester.

First-year students who have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or above are nominated to join Saint Vincent’s ALD chapter.

If students choose to accept their nomination, they attend the ALD induction ceremony to officially join the honors society with a lifetime membership.

The honor society provides a community of scholars, a platform to develop leadership and career-readiness skills, and financial support through scholarships, perks, discounts and educational partnerships.

Dr. Dana Winters, C’06, vice president for enrollment and student success at Saint Vincent College, provided a keynote address and was recognized with an honorary membership. New members were then initiated by junior Benjamin Poole, who serves as ALD chapter president.

Additionally, during the ceremony, eight members of the Class of 2026 were recognized with the Maria Leonard Senior Book Award. The honor is named after ALD’s founder. This year’s award book was “You Don’t Have to Have a Dream: And Other Life Lessons” by Tim Minchin.

The award is presented to graduating members with the highest cumulative grade-point average in their class. Those who received awards for a 4.0 GPA include Victoria Barone, Alicia Boretti, Alexandros Fekos, Molly Hudson, Madison Scola, Kennedy Sheriff, Maverick Vaniel and Carolina Walters.

Colt Easterling, Hope Farley, Noah Johnson, Malley Kotula, Julie Peterson and Braden Thomas, members of the Saint Vincent College Class of 2026, were all honored as past ALD officers.

The College’s ALD chapter hosts general meetings throughout the year in addition to year-round events. Recent activities include campus-wide mini golf, an Easter egg hunt, Rake and Run, and a variety of student engagement and outreach efforts throughout the school year.

Members are encouraged to engage in meaningful service opportunities, build relationships with peers and mentors, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen both the campus and the broader community. The chapter reflects the College’s mission by fostering a spirit of giving back and developing students as servant leaders.

In addition to Poole as chapter president, the 2025-26 executive board includes juniors Jordan Dunham, vice president; Giovanni Porco, secretary; Sydney McWreath, treasurer; Victoria Staub, historian chair; Marti Farabaugh and Hannah Fockler, service and philanthropy co-chairs; and Amberlee Castillo and Kaylie Kurland, social media co-chairs. Jody Marsh, C’01, G’15, director of global and community engagement, serves as advisor for the chapter.
