LATROBE, PA – Dr. Tracy McNelly, chair of the Department of Education, housed within Saint Vincent College’s School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for Adelphoi Education and Ketterer Charter School, bringing decades of experience in educator preparation, educational leadership and community engagement to the organization.
“I am honored to join the Adelphoi Education and Ketterer Charter School board,” McNelly said. “Throughout my career, I have been passionate about ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational opportunities and caring adults who support their growth. Adelphoi’s commitment to serving the whole child and helping students overcome challenges aligns closely with my own beliefs about education and leadership.”
Adelphoi Education and Ketterer Charter School provide comprehensive educational services for students who benefit from personalized academic, behavioral and social-emotional supports. Through specialized programming, trauma-informed practices, career readiness opportunities and individualized instruction, the organization serves young people across the region and helps students develop the skills necessary for future success.
McNelly also serves as teaching certification officer at the College, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and works closely with aspiring teachers and school leaders. She is also co-editor of the “Pennsylvania Teacher Educator” journal and has led numerous initiatives focused on educator preparation, professional development, educational leadership and community partnerships.
Her appointment further strengthens the longstanding connections between Saint Vincent College and local educational organizations dedicated to supporting children, families and communities throughout western Pennsylvania. McNelly’s expertise in teacher preparation, school leadership, curriculum development and educational research will help support the board’s mission of advancing innovative educational opportunities for students.
Through her service on the board, McNelly looks forward to supporting initiatives that strengthen student achievement, expand career and postsecondary opportunities, and ensure that every student is provided with the resources necessary to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Ketterer Charter School, located in Latrobe, is the only brick-and-mortar charter school in Westmoreland County and is recognized for its commitment to creating supportive learning environments that foster academic growth, student success and postsecondary readiness. The school’s innovative programs include career exploration opportunities and the Adelphoi Promise Program, which helps students pursue higher education and workforce pathways after graduation.
