LATROBE, PA – Sarah Yeskey, a junior early childhood education major from Mount Pleasant, was recently named the 2026 recipient of the Matt Russo Memorial Scholarship at Saint Vincent College.

The award honors the memory of Matt Russo, C 13, a cherished member of the Saint Vincent community and PreK-4 education major who was known for his kindness, humor, leadership and Bearcat pride. He left an indelible impact on all who knew him, and this scholarship is presented annually to a junior education major who exemplifies his compassion, leadership and commitment to serving others.

Yeskey, who is also minoring in disability studies, has been recognized for her outstanding contributions both in and out of the classroom.

She is an active member of the women’s lacrosse team, serves as president of the Education Club and is a member of the Early Childhood Education Club.

Yeskey is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for First-Year Academic Success, Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education and Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.

She was recently named assistant director of the Challenge Program, a week-long summer academic enrichment experience for students in PreK-12 that combines hands-on learning, creative activities and a college campus experience.

She is the daughter of Jason and Jennifer Yeskey.

The scholarship, which includes a $1,000 award, was presented by last year’s recipient, Juliana Tambellini, C’26, during the Education Department’s end-of-year celebration on May 1.
