LATROBE, PA – Jacqueline Brace, C’26, and Brianna Howells, who will graduate in August, were recently selected as 2026 Pittsburgh Education Recruitment Consortium (PERC) Educator Excellence Award recipients.

The honor recognizes outstanding future and current educators from PERC member institutions who demonstrate excellence in educator preparation and a commitment to the teaching profession. Each recipient receives a one-time $500 cash award.

Brace, who graduated from Saint Vincent College in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education and a minor in disability studies, was recognized for her dedication to serving diverse learners and her commitment to the field of education. Following graduation, the Moon Township native accepted a position as an elementary special education teacher with the Trinity Area School District.

Howells, who will graduate in August 2026 with a Master of Science in counselor education and PK-12 school counselor certification, was also selected for the prestigious award. Throughout her graduate studies, the Scottdale native has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the academic, social and emotional well-being of students and preparing to make a positive impact as a professional school counselor.

To be eligible for the award, candidates must be current undergraduate, graduate or post-baccalaureate students at a PERC member institution, be eligible for educator certification by Dec. 31, 2026, and participate in the March 2026 PERC Education Job Fair.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Jacqueline and Brianna for this well-deserved recognition,” said Dr. Tracy McNelly, professor and chair of the Education Department at Saint Vincent College. “Both students have distinguished themselves through their dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving others. Their selection for the PERC Educator Excellence Award reflects the high-quality educators and school counselors they have become, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will have on the students, families and communities they serve.”

Saint Vincent College’s Education Department prepares future teachers, counselors and educational leaders through rigorous coursework, meaningful field experiences and a commitment to values-based education. Students begin engaging in field experiences early in their academic careers and develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to make a difference in schools and communities.

The College congratulates Brace and Howells on this significant achievement and wishes them continued success in their educational careers.
