Bearcat Advantage Program income threshold raised to $100,000

by Public Relations | October 20, 2026

LATROBE, PA – Recognizing that higher education costs can be a barrier for prospective students, Saint Vincent College recently announced that the household income eligibility threshold has increased to $100,000 for the Bearcat Advantage Program for the 2027-28 academic year.

Launched in 2023, the initiative seeks to ensure that first-time students from Pennsylvanian families with a total annual household income less than $100,000 receive fully funded tuition thanks to a combination of grants and scholarships. The previous threshold was raised from $60,000 to $80,000 just one year ago.

With comprehensive financial support through the Bearcat Advantage Program, eligible students will be free to pursue their aspirations at Saint Vincent College without undue financial challenges.

“We are committed to making a Saint Vincent College education affordable for students and families,” said Dr. Dana Winters, C’06, vice president for enrollment and student success at Saint Vincent College. “As an institution rooted in stability, community and hospitality, we want to ensure that students have access to all that Saint Vincent College has to offer.”

Students must meet the following criteria to qualify for the program:

  • Pennsylvania residency as confirmed by PHEAA via the FAFSA.
  • First-time freshman or first-time transfer-admitted student as of May 1, 2027, for Fall 2027.
  • 2027-28 FAFSA received at Saint Vincent as of May 1, 2027, for Fall 2027.
  • PELL eligible for the 2027-28 academic year with an annual household income of $100,000 or less (determined by FAFSA). Verification, if applicable, must be completed by May 15, 2027.

Current Saint Vincent students are ineligible. Transfer students with a prior PHEAA grant must satisfy PHEAA’s academic progress requirements and have at least two remaining terms of grant eligibility. Additional PHEAA-requested information must be completed by May 15, 2027, at PHEAA’s GrantUs platform.
