Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification is for those who have already earned a bachelor's degree. Regardless of your certification area, the Education Department at Saint Vincent College combines content-area course work, education course work and field experience, with a liberal arts tradition. As a result of this instruction, candidates who complete certification at Saint Vincent College are well prepared and are thus very successful in passing all parts of the Praxis examinations and in obtaining teaching positions.

Admissions Information

  • How to Apply

    Regular Admission 
    Possess an earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Official transcripts must be submitted from each institution attended to the Office of Graduate & Continuing Education.

    1. Have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0. For a GPA lower than 3.0, applicants will be reviewed for provisional acceptance.
    2. Send three recommendations to the Office of Graduate & Continuing Education.
    3. Personal statement explaining your desire to obtain a graduate degree.
    4. Submit completed Teacher Certification Application.

    Provisional Acceptance
    If a student does not meet the above requirements for regular admission to the graduate programs in education, consideration will be given for acceptance on a provisional basis. The student will be required to maintain a 3.75 GPA over the course of completing three graduate classes. If the student is able to maintain a 3.75 grade point average he/she will be reviewed for regular admission. A student within this status will not be allowed to take more than 9 credits of graduate coursework. If the student is not able to maintain a 3.75 GPA after completing 9 credits of graduate coursework, regular admission will be denied. The provisional acceptance will still allow a student to qualify for financial aid if needed.

  • Tuition & Fees

    Saint Vincent College has set its continuing education tuition rate with the working adult in mind. A high quality, convenient opportunity for professional advancement is provided. The following tuition and fees are effective through Summer 2021.

    Undergraduate Course Tuition (per credit/flat rate)

    Without bachelor's degree (per credit) = $1,252.00 
    Without bachelor's degree (full time flat rate) = $19,989 
    With bachelor's degree (11 credits or less) = $626.00
    With bachelor's degree (12-18 credits) = $9,994.50

    Students who are 30 to 64 years of age may audit any course for one-half the regular tuition charge. For persons over 65, there will be no charge for auditing a course (other than the $5 registration fee).

    • Technology Fee (per semester): Less than 12 credits/semester $112.00
          12 credits or more/semester $276.00
    • Parking & Vehicle Registration Fee: $100.00     
    • Initial Registration Fee (charged upon first enrollment): $25
    • Transcript: $5.00 

    Employer Reimbursement Program
    Students with employers who will reimburse the cost of their courses may participate in our deferred billing program. For further information, please contact the Saint Vincent College Business Office at 724-805-2248.

    Financial Aid
    Students in post-baccalaureate teacher certification who are enrolled in at least six credits per semester may be eligible for low-interest federal student loans.     Refund of Tuition 
    100% refund prior to the course start date
    95% refund within the first 15 calendar days of the course start date
    40% refund between 16-30 calendar days of the course start date
    No refund after the 31st calendar day of the course start date
