LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 26) – On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Saint Vincent College women's soccer team will play its "Vs. Cancer" game, aimed at supporting the fight against pediatric brain cancer.
A signature fundraising campaign of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, proceeds generated through the Bearcats' Vs. Cancer campaign will help fund child life programs in local hospitals and lifesaving pediatric brain tumor research.
Donations to the Vs. Cancer campaign will be collected during Saturday's noon game at UPMC Field, and can also be made online at https://team.curethekids.org/SaintVincentCollegeWomensSoccer2023.
Vs. Cancer was built by athletes for athletes, giving them the platform to raise money for childhood cancer. Founder Chase Jones experienced the childhood cancer world first-hand. In 2006, as an 18-year-old college freshman, he was diagnosed with a Stage IV brain tumor. As a baseball student-athlete at the University of North Carolina, his team rallied around him during treatment and began raising funds to support their local hospital.
Proceeds generated by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation's Vs. Cancer campaign fund child life programs in each team's community, as well as produce significant contributions in the research world.
Teams and student-athletes from more than 350 colleges across all NCAA classifications have participated in the Vs. Cancer initiative, as well as hundreds of high schools, youth sports organizations and professional teams.
