LATROBE, PA—Saint Vincent College, a leading educational institution deeply rooted in the Catholic faith and Benedictine tradition, is proud to announce the launch of the Bearcat Advantage Program. This initiative is designed to ensure that federal PELL Grant eligible students from families within Pennsylvania, with a total annual household income less than $60,000, will have their tuition fully funded by a combination of grants and scholarships.

Under the Bearcat Advantage Program, eligible students will receive comprehensive financial support, allowing them to pursue their academic goals and enjoy the vibrant campus community at Saint Vincent College. To qualify for this program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed an application for admission to Saint Vincent College by March 1, 2024
  • Completed the FAFSA by March 1, 2024
  • Official residency in Pennsylvania as determined by PHEAA (PA Higher Education Assistance Agency)
  • Household income less than $60,000 and PELL Grant eligibility, regardless of the grant amount

Saint Vincent College recognizes the financial challenges that many families face when it comes to higher education. The Bearcat Advantage Program aims to break down these barriers and empower deserving students to access a high-quality education. This program reflects Saint Vincent's commitment to expanding access and opportunity for all, in alignment with its mission and values.

"Saint Vincent College continuously strives to provide our students with tremendous opportunities to grow in all aspects of their personal and professional lives,” explained Father Paul Taylor, O.S.B., President of Saint Vincent College. “By establishing the Bearcat Advantage, we are working to ensure cost does not deter potential Bearcats from exploring all that our campus community has to offer."

Over the past two and a half years, Saint Vincent College has been dedicated to increasing the accessibility of higher education. Previously, 14% of the incoming freshman class had their tuition fully funded through gift aid from institutional, federal, state, and outside sources. Thanks to the continued generosity of friends and family of SVC, the College is now able to extend this support to more students

In addition to the Bearcat Advantage Program, Saint Vincent College has expanded its scholarship offerings for the fall of 2024. Merit scholarships are now available based on SAT/ACT scores, and special awards are provided for students graduating from Catholic high schools. The college also offers numerous endowed scholarships to support students in their academic journey. Remarkably, 100% of first-time freshman or transfer students receive some form of merit scholarship at Saint Vincent College.

Saint Vincent College's commitment to excellence is reflected in its outcomes. A remarkable 98% of graduates are employed in their chosen field or pursuing graduate/professional education within one year of graduation. This outstanding success rate underscores the value of a Saint Vincent education and the opportunities it provides.

Saint Vincent College remains steadfast in its mission to provide quality undergraduate and graduate education rooted in faith, tradition and liberal values. The Bearcat Advantage Program is a testament to the college's dedication to expanding access to education and empowering the next generation of leaders.
