LATROBE, PA – For the 11th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Saint Vincent College in its top tier of national liberal arts colleges, while also recognizing SVC as a top performer in social mobility and including the College in its listing of "A+ Schools for B Students."
U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-21 rankings are based on several key measures of quality including graduation and retention rates, assessment of excellence by peers, faculty resources, social mobility, admission selectivity and alumni engagement.
“We are appreciative of our acknowledgement by U.S. News & World Report as a top tier national liberal arts college,” said Saint Vincent College president Father Paul R. Taylor, O.S.B. “This recognition is not only a testament to the achievements of our students and alumni, but also to the hard work of our dedicated faculty and staff. Through our rigorous curriculum and emphasis on the importance of community, we prepare our students for careers as leaders and to lead meaningful lives.”
Schools included in the U.S. News & World Report’s national liberal arts rankings emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the arts or sciences. A total of 233 institutions were selected for inclusion by U.S. News in the top tier of the best liberal arts colleges, with Saint Vincent College ranked in a tie for 140th.
Saint Vincent College ranked 63rd among national liberal arts colleges on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Top Performers on Social Mobility. This ranking is based on Saint Vincent College’s successful retention and graduation rates of disadvantaged students and Pell Grant recipients.
“We are committed to providing financial aid that makes it possible for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to receive a college education,” said Father Paul. “With the transformative experience delivered by our faculty and staff, our students are uniquely prepared to succeed during their time at Saint Vincent and beyond.”
This marks the 36th year in which U.S. News & World Report has released its college rankings. Along with national liberal arts colleges, the publication also ranks schools in three other categories – national universities, regional universities and regional colleges.
In addition to the U.S. News recognition, Saint Vincent College’s quality educational programs have also garnered accolades from Money magazine (2020 Best Colleges for the Money), College Factual (Best Colleges for the Money) and WalletHub (Best Colleges and Universities), while a 2019 New York Times study noted Saint Vincent College’s high retention and graduation rates.
