A Message from the Alumni Relations Office

by Public Relations | August 03, 2020

The health and safety of the entire Saint Vincent community, especially that of students, is of the highest priority. The College’s Forward Together Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the President’s Cabinet, has worked tirelessly this summer to ensure that the College is prepared to welcome students back to Latrobe for the start of the fall term.

With the unpredictable nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Homecoming and Fall Family Weekend, the Bearcat Open golf outing and the already rescheduled Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2020 have been canceled. While the pandemic has necessitated yet another change to the commencement celebration for the Class of 2020, SVC is continuing to work to find a solution that appropriately recognizes our most recent graduates and newest alumni.

The decisions to cancel these events were not taken lightly. This difficult choice falls in alignment with that of many western Pennsylvania colleges and universities and follows current state-wide restrictions on social gatherings.

Saint Vincent College looks forward to rescheduling many events at a date and time in the future when we can all be together and celebrate these milestones safely and with proper Benedictine hospitality.

In lieu of the College’s traditional Homecoming activities for alumni and friends this fall, the Alumni Relations Office is planning a multitude of virtual events and activities that will allow remote participation during SVC’s reformatted 2020 Homecoming and Fall Family Weekend. Please stay tuned to the Saint Vincent College website and social media channels for more details as they are released.

Until we are able to be together in person, please continue to pray for our students and for each other. Be safe and be well as we look forward, always forward.
