LATROBE, PA – Sarah Centore, a junior biology major from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, has been elected to serve as secretary of the Saint Vincent College Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board for 2021.

207-sarah-centore.pngA graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, Centore is currently the SGA junior class secretary, and her new role adds to an extensive list of on-campus activities, as she is a Fred Rogers Scholar, a prefect in Saint Benedict Hall and a facilitator for CLP testing in general biology. Additionally, she is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society, the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society and the Women in STEM Club, while she is a student worker in the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media.

“I pursued this SGA secretary position,” said Centore, “because I admire what SGA does for the students and I wanted to take a more active role. I felt the secretary position is a good fit for me. I can assist the rest of the Executive Board and Senate, while supporting the needs of the student body and continuing to achieve great things.”

In her new role, Centore plans to take an active role in keeping the Saint Vincent community informed of the doings of SGA.

“I hope to promote SGA to the student body and keep others informed of what we are collectively working toward,” she said. I want to use social media as a platform to introduce our various committees and members, as well as highlight a variety of projects and events that we help to sponsor.”

Centore said she was attracted to Saint Vincent College during her college search by its familial atmosphere and rigorous science curriculum.

“Saint Vincent really felt like home,” she said of her first visit. “Everyone was so nice and I loved the campus. The reputation of the Boyer School and its Pre-Professional Health Committee set Saint Vincent apart from other schools that I considered attending.”

Centore, who plans to attend medical school after her graduation from SVC, is the daughter of Anthony and Jody Centore of Canonsburg and has three brothers – all Saint Vincent College graduates – Michael, C’15, Vincent, C16’ and Joshua, C’18. She is a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Corpus Christi Parish, in Bridgeville.
